- What is Impacted Tooth Extraction?
The reason why impacted wisdom teeth are a problem; evolutionarily, this tooth is no longer needed and our jaws are getting smaller and smaller. As our jaws get smaller, wisdom teeth are forced to find a place for themselves and therefore cannot come out like other teeth. The wisdom teeth, which cannot find a place for themselves, push the front tooth and press, which causes crowding. In addition, they can easily become inflamed because they are too far behind and the gingiva around them are not in a normal anatomical structure. Impacted tooth extractions are not performed only on wisdom teeth. Any tooth in the jaw arch can also remain embedded in the bone. If it is not possible to maintain and extraction is indicated, such teeth are surgically removed.
- What is Surgical Extraction?
Surgical extraction is a technique used in the extraction of teeth that are not easily visible in the mouth, broken at the gingival margin or impacted. In some cases, there may be bone on the tooth that needs to be removed.
After the tooth to be extracted is divided into sections, it may need to be removed. In these cases, surgical extraction is applied. As in normal shooting, the procedure can be performed with local anesthesia.
- Should every 20-year-old female be extracted?
The wisdom teeth, which are usually the last teeth to erupt into the mouth at the age of 20, can not find a place in the jaws and may remain semi-buried or fully embedded, as they erupt after the jaw development is completed. Wisdom teeth that cannot erupt in the correct position and may distort the tooth sequence, damage the surrounding tissues, create caries and gingivitis, and cause pain, abscess or cyst, should be extracted. However, 20-year-old teeth that can be located in the tooth series and do not cause any problems can remain in function in the mouth.
- What is Apical Resection and When Is It Necessary?
Apical resection is a surgical procedure in which the cyst or infection at the tip of the tooth root is removed along with the lower 1/3 of the tooth root. It is a procedure to prevent tooth loss and keep the tooth in the mouth. Apical resection can be applied in small cysts located at the root tip of the tooth, root tip infections that do not heal with root canal treatment, in cases where the root canal tool is broken at the root tip, overflow root canal treatments and root tip fractures as a result of trauma.
- Will I Feel Pain During the Surgical Procedure?
Since the surgical procedures are performed under local anesthesia, there is no pain in tooth extraction, implant or any surgical procedure. However, surgical procedures can be easily performed in our clinic under sedation and general anesthesia in line with the patient's request or in some medical necessities.
